Happy 2012!

So, if anyone is still checking this after a year of no updates, I am amazed and applaud you:) My Mac died and I just couldn't stand to use a PC. I now finally have a new Mac, so I guess I have no excuses for not staying up-to-date.

Catching up:

Emery is now a little over two. She is still the most amazing little human to grace the planet. She is still a lover, never hesitates to give lots of hugs and kisses. It is so sweet when she tells me "I love you too Mommy". She talks and talks. Although, many might not believe that because she is still very shy in large groups. Inside the home though, she says anything and everything. Funny things she says: when she is leaving a room she will turn to you with her finger out and say with authority "I will be right back", or when she wants some love she says "I need a kiss on the lips" or when she is being bossy "Shh, no talking please" or "Be nice!". Her obsession for the last 4 months has been my make-up, primarily lip gloss or chapstick. So for Christmas, she received a set of 6 princess chapsticks of her own. She carries at least one in her hand 24/7. I mean goes to sleep holding it and it is the first thing she asks for in the morning. Lately, she has been carrying about 3 in her purse and bringing the purse everywhere. She also loves ballet. We took her to the Nutcracker for Christmas and she sat there wide-eyed the full 2 hours. She now wants to wear a tutu everyday and really is quite good with some ballet moves:)

On November 9, 2011 our hearts were broken by the loss of our pregnancy at 5 months. We had been expecting a little boy to bless our family in March 2012. This loss has taken a piece of our hearts. I am so thankful for my wonderful family, friends, but most of all my husband, who thru this process I have come to admire more and have pulled from his strength to work thru this. I know people want to know if we are okay and we are but this loss has changed us forever. A day will not pass that he is not missed, longed for, and loved.

That being said, I know 2012 is going to be a great year. We brought in the New Year sitting around a campfire with dear friends. Emery loves the outdoors, like her parents, so camping was an ideal way for our family to welcome all the good 2012 holds for us.

Holiday Season

So I have been too busy enjoying the holiday season and busy running around to update the blog. I will try to catch everyone up on our wonderful holiday season.

We kept Emery busy, or vice versa, skipping around to one holiday party after another. We had our first, of hopefully many, christmas tot's party with all of Emery's friends. The tots decorated sugar cookies, had a ornament exchange, packed toy donation boxes and had a ton of fun playing with all of Emery's toys.

Emery has taken over the living area as her play room. She received a kitchen, a piano and a tea table for christmas. She has so much fun going from one toy to another. Her Godfather also made her a beautiful baby cradle, which she attempts to climb into and rock herself. Christmas was so much fun this year and we loved spending time with all our wonderful family and friends. Cousin Liam was here and Emery tryed to keep up but he is a very busy boy and his cooking skills are a little advanced compared to Emery's. He also decided he had squatter's rights over her pink house and refused to let her enter:) He made up for it later by toting her around in his black truck.

Emery is definitely entering a new developmental stage. She wants to be more independent and is very strong willed (to put it nicely) when she decides she doesn't want to do something. Her favorite word is "No" but drawn out when spoken and spoken with the authority of a thirteen year old girl. She is also very silly and still loves to give big hugs and kisses. She can repeat almost anything but the cutest words are happy, please and bubbles. We could not be more blessed and we thank everyone for being part of our lives. We thank the good Lord for all the wonderful people in our lives and all the goodness he has gifted us.

Happy 2011 to all and we know it will be a great year with many blessings, health, love and family above all.

Happy Birthday Emery! And happy it was. We could not have asked for better weather to celebrate Emery's special day. I was busy baking 80 cupcakes and a giant cupcake cake for Emery, thank goodness I had a great friend's help, to make sure her birthday was extra sweet. Emery had a wonderful time playing with her friends, opening presents, and eating sweets for the first time. I still can't believe a year has passed and my little baby girl is one. Frank and I could not be more in love and thankful for this last year with Emery. We are blessed and only pray and look forward to many more wonderful years. Such a happy day!

Can you find the garden gnomes? For Halloween we were the Garden Gnome family and it was so much fun. Emery was a sport wearing her gnome hat and slippers. We pushed her on her tricycle and she was more than happy to take the candy. Of course the candy was for Mommy and Daddy:)

Emery is 11 months!

Is everyone as excited about this cool weather as Emery and me? It is so nice to go to the playground and not come home soaked as if we were at a splash park. I am so excited to break into Emery's fall outfits. I put her in a velvet skirt the other day and a long sleeved shirt and my friend said you do know it is still like 85 degrees outside? I then started to feel a little bad when I saw Emery's rosy cheeks. Oh, the sacrifices for fashion:)

We had a great family vacation to Asheville, NC. We hiked (see poor Em stuck on Daddy's back, she did fall asleep every time she was in it), picked apples at the apple orchard, shopped and visited the amazing Biltmore Estate. Emery had a blast and was a great traveler, minus being a little under the weather.

So she is 11 months now and sprinting. She is so fast, we are constantly on our toes keeping up with her. She is very silly now; making faces, pretending to be a teapot when we sing the song, talking ( saying dog, duck, truck, ball), kicking the ball, playing chase, blowing kisses, showing off her teeth... okay I will stop there but I could go on forever. She goes into the kitchen cabinets now and finds her favorite toy... our handheld strainer. She will walk around the house with the strainer like it is a stuffed animal.

We are looking forward to her 1st birthday and celebrating with family and friends.

Is anyone tired of the Texas heat? We are just trying to enjoy the summer and somehow stay cool. We took Emery to the Austin Children's Museum and she had so much fun exploring all the activities. We have been busy with 1st birthday parties for all Emery's friends and have started thinking about the fun things we will do to celebrate her big day.

Emery has been walking for 2 weeks now. It is so cute to see her with her Frankenstein walk coming into the kitchen to see what I am up to. She still opts to creep sometimes (mainly when Mom or Dad asks her to show off her walking to friends or family) but she is doing really well with her walking. But she hasn't mastered walking in the pink cowgirl boots that Mom puts on her. We made a trip to Walhburg to listen to polka/country music and she had fun on the dance floor. People couldn't get enough of her in her pink boots.

Emery is very funny. If we ask her where our sweet girl is, she will tilt her head to the side. It is very cute. She loves to play like she is going to sleep and have us wake her up. She loves riding her airplane scooter at Grandma's and still loves to give big kisses.

Emery is 9 months!

So we are just a short 3 months away from Emery's 1st birthday. It is so crazy how quickly time passes and how many happy memories can be made in a relatively short period of time. Emery has filled these past 9 months with fun, laughter, and above all immeasurable love. She continues to be the light that brightens my day, seven days a week!

She is into everything and I mean everything. We are constantly following her around and seeing what mischief she is getting into. She usually looks back once to see if we are on her tail and if we are she kicks it into turbo gear. If she is feeling bossy, she will hold up one finger and shake it at us and give us a look that says "You better not come get me". She walks now holding on to one of our fingers, climbs the stairs in record time, climbs up the slide, waves hi and bye, makes a little piggy face, and loves to give long, wet kisses.

She still lets me dress her up and loves to model. As you can see from the gorgeous tutu photo shoot. She also is geared up for UT football season and already can demo UT is #1! Really we have been teaching her to say she is turning 1.

Emery is 8 months!

So our sweet baby girl is now 8 months and looking less like a little baby! I just cannot believe how time fly's and how much Emery has grown.

What is she in to? Everything that is not a toy. She headed towards the stairs the other day, where she usually just stands, and all of a sudden just started heading up like she had done it a thousand times. So baby gates need to be installed ASAP. She has taken a step here and there but not walking as of yet. She has a very nice tan since she gets in the pool just about everyday and she love hanging out in the cool water just floating around.

If I had to pick one word to describe Emery's personality it would have to be sweet. She is just a lover. The best is when she is in her Daddy's arms and she just lays her sweet head on his chest and looks so perfectly content. She laughs, loves to clap, throws and catches a ball, says Mama/Dada/hi/bye bye. She is just the best.

Emery is 7 months

So I haven't been as diligent with my blogging but not without good reason... I am too busy chasing Emery! The little lady is crawling and into everything. Before she was an efficient crawler she was already pulling to stand (first discovered when we turned our back and turned around to find Emery standing in her crib) and now that she is mobile she wants to pull-up on everything and see what she must get her hands on.

We have been having tons of fun jumping from Spring to Summer. We had a nice day trip to Fredericksburg, walking around the wildseed farms, having ice cream down town, and hiking Enchanted Rock. Emery had a great time looking at the bright flowers and enjoying a nap on Daddy's back while we hiked to the top of the rock. It was a beautiful spring day.

Emery loves swimming. She is such a girl. I put her in her float and she relaxed back with her head on the cushion and just sunbathed. She already has a nice tan forming. She looks too cute in her bathing suit.

So we are loving our very blessed life and thankful everyday for the gifts we are given.

Emery is 6 months

So 1/2 a year has flown by but has filled our life with so many wonderful memories. It is impossible for someone to describe the fulfillment one experiences when having a child. Emery makes my heart want to burst with happiness and love.

We had a wonderful Easter. Easter is one of my favorite holidays. As a child I remember always getting our fancy new Easter duds, waking up to a filled basket, going to mass, taking pictures in the flowers, eating good food and of course a highly competitive egg hunt. Emery looked beautiful in her Easter dress, was a perfect angel at mass (didn't receive a bit of attention from the parish, haha), and loved her bunny Fufu she received in her basket.

Emery had fun getting in the hot tub with her friends. Doesn't she look adorable in her first swimsuit?! So many boys, Emery just loves the attention. Although, she will need a girlfriend to have a tea party with and play with dolls:)

Emery now gets into the quadruped (crawling) position and attempts to move forward but then plops on her belly. I am sure another 2 weeks or so and she will be on the move. She is also teething right now, so a little cranky but not bad. I hope that tooth cuts soon for her sake.

Emery is 5 months!

I can't believe one more month and Emery will be half a year old! We have had so much fun in these past 5 months. Emery is so active and laughs and smiles all the time. She does really well sitting up and reaching for toys. Not crawling yet but I am okay with that, less chasing:) She is in to everything and everything goes in the mouth. Lots of loud yells, she is a girl! She has the sweetest personality, just a little love bug.

I had to put her in her first tutu for 5 months! She wouldn't believe me that it didn't taste good, she had to see for herself.

Next month we will start real food and I think she is very ready. She looks at our food and has these puppy dog eyes like "Don't you want to give me a bite?" For right now, milk seems to be treating her just fine. Have you seen these thighs?!

She took her first plane ride to visit her cousin in Georgia. She couldn't let him turn one without her there to celebrate. She was a perfect baby on the flight and everyone loved her on the flight, the flight attendant even wanted to hold her and she cruised down the aisle flirting with everyone:) (Emery, not the flight attendant) We went to the Atlanta Zoo and Emery had fun observing all the animals. I think the orangutans amused her the most.

The weather has been so pretty we decided to take her to the Botanical gardens to see what was in bloom. Lots of pretty colors to fill her eyes. We can't wait to put her in her Easter dress and hunt for eggs. Or just take lots of pictures:)

Emery is 4 months! Another month passes and we find that we love Emery more and more each day. We are sad that time passes so quickly and she is no longer an infant but in the same hand we look forward to each day because it brings more fun and happy moments with Emery.

A week ago Emery was baptized and it was a beautiful ceremony. Emery did absolutely perfect and did not cry at all. She just looked around taking in all the people and sights. We thank all our friends and loved ones for joining us on this special day in our lives.

Happy Valentine's Day!!! Our little valentine made this a sweet day. Aunt Mimi, Uncle Barrett and cousin Liam sent Emery a very cute valentine's outfit (a little big but good for the pics) and then we changed into another heart inspired outfit. Daddy made yummy pancakes for breakfast and we went to the park with our cousin Kelan. It was a beautiful day and Emery wore herself out watching Kelan run around the playground. It was a great Valentine's day filled with lots of love!

Emery fills everyday with smiles, beauty and love. Her milestone that she completed almost 2 weeks ago is rolling. She can do tummy to back and back to tummy. We are so proud:)

I am amazed that our baby girl is now three months and at the same time it feels like she has always been a part of my life and 3 months doesn't seem long enough. Emery has changed so much in the last few weeks. She has come out of her infant shell and loves to play with her toys and is convinced she should be able to sit-up. She always attempts to sit-up when she is on the changing table. She laughs and smiles so much and is such a happy baby. Each day is more fun.

Last week Emery was waking up every couple hours at night, which is not her norm, so Frank and I kept saying she must be going through a growing spurt. I think we were right because this week she seems so much bigger and is much more interested in her environment. She has really discovered her feet in the last week and loves to have them in her mouth at all times. She grabs her toys and immediately brings them to her mouth. She almost has rolling over onto her tummy down but still needs one finger push by Mommy to make it all the way. Frank and I are still so amazed at how quickly she is growing and changing. We try to enjoy every moment and look forward to all the fun experiences that are on the way. Here are some recent pics from Mom's impromptu photo shoot. All the laughs and smiles in the pics are due to her glowworm. Emery doesn't guarantee a smile every time for Mommy and Daddy but she does for her glowworm.

Holiday Season

I hope the holiday season was a good one for all. This holiday season was of course our best because we were able to share it with sweet Emery. We stayed busy visiting family and enjoying all the holiday festivities. Emery was spoiled with lots of love and too many christmas gifts. I think we will have to get a storage shed for toys if we receive this many gifts for her first birthday:)

Emery's cousin Liam was just in love with her. He immediately wanted to hug and kiss her and then pull her hair:) It was so much fun to have my sister, brother in-law, and nephew home for the holidays.

Emery is now quite talkative and active. She rolls on her side, grabs her feet, and smiles almost every time her Daddy talks with her. I am amazed at how quickly she is growing and changing. I look back at pictures from just a month ago and can't believe how small she was. She likes to sit in her bumbo chair and she looks too cute in her own miniature chair.

We are now getting back into the swing of our daily schedules. I have started back to work 3 part-time days a week. I am trying to adjust to being away from Emery, which is so difficult because I miss and think of her every second she is not in my arms. I am trying to convince my husband that despite his past notions, I am a very traditional woman and believe women don't have a place in the man's work world and I should stay in the home to take care of Emery and wash clothes, dishes, maintain the home:) He just won't take the bait! I am seriously considering downsizing our home ( our lovely mortgage payment really) and living in a cute little cottage so I can be with my sweet baby all day! Not that I don't enjoy my work and getting some me time but it is a lot to manage and I think I would just rather play with Emery all day. I am thankful that I have a short work week and that I have my Mom and MIL to watch Emery. We couldn't be more blessed.

Emery is two months and a wonderful two months it has been. She is smiling and cooing, especially when we lay her down to change her diapers. We are gearing up for our holiday festivities. I have no doubt this will be our best holiday season!

Last Sunday we took a family walk down to the neighborhood park. We put down a blanket and enjoyed the beautiful day. The dogs were so excited to finally get some attention and play ball at the park. I attempted to run and kick the soccer ball with Frank... ouch! Things didn't quite feel like they used to but I will get there:) Emery had fun looking up at the blue sky and the trees and green grass surrounding her. It was one of those days where I just laid back, looked at my family and my world and thought how did I get so lucky and blessed!

Look how big and beautiful I am! I am not quite 2 months and I have already grown so much. Mommy and I have so much fun spending our days reading books, playing with toys, singing songs and visiting friends.

Last weekend Mommy, Daddy and I went to buy my very first Christmas tree. I had so much fun decorating the tree and watching the pretty lights. I even have my own ornament, a sweet pea in the pod:)

I can't wait to celebrate Christmas with all my family, especially my cousin Liam who comes to town next week!

Happy Holidays!! Well, we enjoyed our first holiday with beautiful Emery. Emery enjoyed rushing around celebrating FOUR Thanksgiving meals:) When we gave thanks for our blessings Emery was on the very top of the list. Emery enjoyed spending time with all her family and wished she could eat some of the yummy food. Emery makes everything in life better, especially the holiday season. Now we are preparing for the busy Christmas season and can't wait to celebrate our first Christmas as a family.

So a little late on the update but Emery is now 2 weeks and 5 days old! I feel like she is already changing and growing so much, which is exciting but it also makes you treasure each day and each look. I love being home with her during the day and dressing her up in cute outfits. We enjoy our walks and of course sleeping. We make a couple trips to Georgetown to have lunch with Daddy and Emery needs to show off to all of Frank's coworkers. Frank misses her during the day and his coworkers tell me that Emery is all he talks about from the moment he enters the office:)

Emery had her first bath today and she loved it. She just sat back and relaxed in the warm water. She did not like the cool air on the way out but we were quick to wrap her up in her pooh bear towel.

I continue to put the huge bows and flowers on her head because she is too young to tell me no, so I have to take advantage of this time:) She smiles and laughs in her sleep and we hope she is dreaming of Mommy and Daddy.

Emery is now 8 days old! Frank and I still float around the house on cloud 9, enjoying every time we get to hold our sweet daughter. She is the best cuddler in the world. Our first week has been great. She went on her first walk at 2 days old and fell asleep in about 30 seconds of being in the stroller. Emery brought the beautiful weather with her, so we have been able to enjoy our walks outside. Sleeping is hit or miss. During the day we could be having a party inside and she would remain fast asleep. At night for some reason she is ready to party and doesn't want to leave our arms. We thank everyone for the love and support. My mom has been a saint, coming to the house each day to cook, clean and do anything to help us out. We feel truly blessed.

Emery Elizabeth Bustos has arrived! Only one week and six days late:) Beautiful Emery came into our arms on 10/20/2009 at 5:24 am. Weighing in at a whopping 9 lbs and 1.1 ounces, 20.5 inches. She looks just like Daddy but people say with Mommy's nose and chin. She has a full head of dark brown hair, deep grey eyes (with a tint of blue Daddy says), and one dimple has been spotted on the left cheek:) She is the love of our life and we couldn't be any happier than we are right now.

So we are now about 6 days past our due date and I am trying to stay relaxed. Frank and I are both getting very anxious to meet our daughter. I stopped working this week, which is very nice to relax and take things easy but I also am ready to have my baby in my arms:) We don't plan on going past 42 weeks, so that means induction next week. Frank and I are positive and hopeful that she will decide to come on her own in the next few days. We are trying all the tricks that we know of to help initiate labor but she seems to be pretty comfortable where she is. All your thoughts and prayers are appreciated and we will keep you posted.

Due date in just 4 DAYS!!! Frank and I are amazed that it is just a matter of days before our due date. Our daughter could be arriving any day now. That being said, my Mom did have me over 2 weeks late and my sister had my nephew 2 weeks late, so we will see. I hope I break family tradition and have her before 42 weeks:) I am doing well. Definitely more uncomfortable and very slow to move, like a turtle really. I am still working, which I know some people think is crazy but I don't know what I would do to keep myself busy right now if I was at home. I would just sit around obsessing about her arrival. I think we are as prepared and ready as we can be but I am sure we have forgotten something. Sorry I have to say this. I know lots of you plan on visiting when Baby Bustos arrives. Frank and I request that if you are even slightly under the weather that you wait until you are feeling 100% before visiting. We just can't chance it with flu season being out of control and having a newborn. Thanks for your consideration. Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers. We will keep you updated as things progress.

Well, we are now at 36 weeks! I feel like time has flown by but it is definitely slowing down these last few weeks. I really have loved being pregnant but I am also anxious to meet our daughter. My energy has definitely dropped off and little tasks seem to be too exhausting. Frank is being a great help and has taken over most 0f the tasks around the house. We took some pictures at the house with our tripod, just couldn't justify spending the money on professional. They came out pretty good for amateurs playing photographers and trying to pose:) Wish us blessings for our last 4 weeks, that is if she is on time!

Here are the latest and greatest of the nursery. Frank and I are so happy with how the room turned out. We sit in the room just about every night and talk about how excited we are to have a baby on the way. I say the nursery is pretty much complete but I always find something cute to add:)

A couple of weeks ago we had a wonderful family baby shower. Lots of family and friends came to celebrate the nearing arrival of our daughter. It meant so much to Frank and I and we felt very loved. My adorable nephew and sweet sister made the trip down from Georgia and I could not get enough hugs and kisses from my nephew. We packed up a truck full of baby items and our house is now officially babyfied. We just need our sweet baby here!

Yesterday we had a great time at our baby shower. Baby Bustos is already so loved and spoiled. We are so blessed to have such loving and giving people in our lives. I can't wait to dress her up in all the adorable clothes she received!

Port Aransas Beach Trip

The Bustos family had a great time at Port Aransas with there friends. Being pregnant, I felt very catered to and was able to put my feet up, read a book, and enjoy the beautiful ocean. My friends kept saying I was a trooper for hanging out on the beach and in the sun. That was no problem. I think I was a trooper for donning the bathing suit and taking pics at 7 1/2 months pregnant standing next to all these beautifully, fit women! It was a great time and can't wait for next year when baby Bustos can play in the sand looking adorable in her bikini:)

Finally some new pics and updates! Sorry we are not better about updating the blog but life is just busy. Frank and I, along with the help of our wonderful family, have been working on getting the nursery put together, while still working and keeping up with the house and life activities. The nursery is not quite complete but getting close. Here are a couple pics. I have attempted to design the baby bedding and met with the seamstress last week, so hopefully the design from my head will look good in reality. So far I have been so blessed with this pregnancy. Overall I feel really good still and truly enjoy my large pregnant belly. I could do without the fat, swollen feet but with being on my feet all day and with this wonderful Texas heat I am not sure it can be avoided. We now have 11 weeks left and know they will fly by like the past months. Summer is always so busy and all our events have limited my napping time but somehow my husband finds time to catch a few z's. I guess he needs to get it in now since soon those weekend naps will soon be a distant memory. Our little one is growing stronger with every kick. Frank is amazed at how hard she kicks and moves around. We are headed to the beach this weekend with 10 of our friends. I am looking forward to lounging on the beach with a good book and elevating my feet:)

We are now in our 6th month and loving pregnancy. We have been blessed with health and hope that blessing continues. Baby Bustos is active and kicking often. She loves when her Daddy sings her lullabies and reads her stories. The nursery decorating is under way and we hope we make a comfy room for her. Frank and I love her so much already and we are looking forward to holding our baby girl in our arms.

We are officially in the 21st Century. We are starting a blog. Never saw us doing this but we figured it would be the best way to share family news. As most of you know, Liz and I have been together for 14 years now. Liz likes to say we have shared more years together in our lives than apart. We feel very blessed to have found our love at such a young age and to have shared so many wonderful moments together. After watching Super Bowl 43 we found out we were pregnant with our first child. We are in our 16th week and counting. It has seemed like a long time coming, and we are so excited about this next stage in our lives. We'll keep you all posted with any news and pics.
